Have you noticed a certain something in the air lately? That’s right! It’s engagement/proposal season. Engagement season is defined as the period between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. Research shows that over 50 percent of couples get engaged during this time. But what does this have to do with you if you’re already engaged and planning your wedding? A lot actually.

With the popularity of Pinterest and Instagram, many brides begin planning their wedding before they are actually engaged which means often times they already know what venue, photographer, wedding planner, etc. they want to work with.

They are simply waiting on the ring so they can set a date and book each vendor.

This new approach to planning is why wedding vendors are receiving a record increase in inquiries during engagement season for wedding dates within 6 to 12 months. A wedding date that may be yours as well.

So do you have a vendor you have been eyeing for a while but haven’t met yet or booked? Well, if you wait any longer, they may not be available for your wedding date. Especially if your wedding is during peak wedding season, which is April through August as well as October.

Many vendors only have the capacity to take on one couple per day so I urge you to start meeting with vendors and booking them soon before another couple scoops up your dream vendor.

Hello! Thank you for visiting! Its February and the wedding season is about to get started. I am excited about Kim and Andre’s wedding coming up in a few weeks. From the first time i spoke to this lovely couple i just felt a great connection and i knew their engagement session would be great. Their wedding is definitely going to be amazing.  Kim and Andre enjoy hanging out at the Ponce City Market so we incorporated that into the shoot. We wrapped up the shoot in the city. Congrats to Kim and Andre. See you in a few weeks! Check out how they met and and images from the shoot below. Enjoy!

A co-worker and I decided we needed to be more visible on the dating scene.  The plan was every other Friday, we’d transition from work to a night on the town!  Our very first outing was January 17, 2014.  We went to a restaurant nearby and listened to a local band.  The food was great, but the crowd was just “okay”, so we quickly aborted the mission to go somewhere we didn’t frequent for good laughs.  We walked in and Andre was sitting at the bar alone.  My friend and I found a table in the back, and I noticed Andre looking at me through a mirror.  To my disappointment, he paid his bill and walked towards the door.  BUT – he turned back around (and of course I was looking dead at him.. lol).  He later told me he was thinking, “now if I turn around and she’s looking at me too.. I’ve got to talk to her.”  lol!  I mouthed to him, “Where are you going?”  He confidently mouthed back, “To eat someplace else.  I’ll be back.”  My friend and I laughed, trying to figure out why anyone would leave a restaurant to go eat somewhere else!  In record timing, Andre walked back in!  He patiently waited for others to leave our table and had the waitress send drinks to our table.  He and I struck up a conversation shortly thereafter that led to us exchanging numbers.  He called me a few days later.  We wanted to see each other sooner than later but we were interrupted by the infamous Atlanta Snowmaggedon of 2014.  That didn’t hold us down, though!  As soon as the snow was melted and the roads were clear, Andre called to set up our first date!
What I didn’t know is the day I met Andre he had been laid off from his finance job, just that morning.  He says his day of sadness was replaced with a ray of sunshine, and for that he’ll forever be grateful.  Dealing with a major hardship so early on taught us how to smile during the down times and find creative ways to love each other.  It taught us to genuinely be just us.
We dated for close to 3 years and December 2016 were headed Downtown Atlanta for a New Year’s Eve weekend “staycation”.  Andre had dinner plans and told me to be ready at 7.  I remember him being so surprised I was ready on time!  We pulled up to the Polaris, an iconic restaurant in the city that is 22 stories up and slowly spins for a panoramic view.  I said to him, “Excuse me?! … How swanky, sir..”  He laughed and we headed up.  We had a lovely dinner and Andre asked me to share dessert with him.  I was stuffed, so I opted out.  He insisted I live in the moment and share some with him.  In true Kim fashion, I opted out again.  Eventually he convinced me and I told him I would take a few bites of whatever he ordered.  Once I agreed, the manager brought out champagne glasses and a “dessert” tray.  I thought, “what a nice restaurant.  They must bring out champagne because its New Year’s weekend.”  When I looked a little closer, I saw a small ring box in the middle of an assortment of desserts.  When I turned to my right, Andre was on one knee and started professing his love for me.  I cried like a baby and could barely get “Yes” out!  I soon noticed the workers of the restaurant were all on board and some were capturing the moment for us.  Afterwards I started calling our family and friends, but hardly any of my friends in the city were answering.  To my surprise, they were all together, waiting at the hotel to celebrate me!  That was such a special moment and one I’ll remember forever!

Hello & Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! Usually i shoot a couple for the first time during their e-session but for Dana & Mike this was round 2. I had the opportunity to shoot their surprise proposal which was amazing. This e-session was a breeze and they were super comfortable. I love couples that just want to have a great time and celebrate the fact that they are getting married. One of the many reasons i love shooting couples. We started off at the Carter Center and rounded up at Virginia Highland.  Looking forward to their big day. Check out some images from this shoot. Enjoy!

Our Story:
Once upon a time…… 🙂 well, our story is a testimony! We grew up together. We would randomly see each other at parties and knew ourselves to be close family friends. We both saw something in each other and had nothing but respect for each other. As we grew individually, our relationship became closer, not knowing that we would be here today. God has been so good to us. Many trials and tests, but thank God that He is our foundation. We love spending quality time with each other, going to movies, spas, shopping, and surprising each other. We love being there for people and supporting in any way possible. If there is one thing that we would like to highlight about ourselves, that is the grace of God is sufficient, and as he has been there for us and knowing that He will continually be our rock; we encourage you to call upon Him in every situation.
We look forward to sharing more with you on our wedding day! 🙂
God Bless you!
Proposal story:
It was Tuoyo’s 30th birthday, I told him that I would plan a birthday party for him; the only thing he had to do was show up. I remember telling him this about 6 months before his birthday. Planning his birthday party was very exciting for me, because I knew this was going to be his first party. The day of his party came after months of planning and I was so excited, looking forward to seeing him have a wonderful night as he celebrated his 30th. I had different entertainments planned for the day, with a few disappointments the day off, I was still optimistic that he would have a wonderful time. While the party was going on, I realized many distractions, I was called to the kitchen, then to the car, and then someone else called me to go over the program. During this time, I heard the MC calling my name on the microphone, as I walked up, I saw Tuoyo standing in the middle of rose petals shaped in a heart with candles surrounding the heart. And he asked me to step into the heart with him. He asked my sisters and his sisters to come up as well, he thanked me for everything and handed me a box, I remember everyone hailing and asking me to open the box, as I opened the box, it was an ipad and on the back was engraved, Eghosa P. Asoro, will you marry me? I turned around to look at tuoyo and he was on his knee. I think after that, I spaced out; I can not really remember what happened after that, I was overwhelmed with joy. I could not believe what just happened at the moment. Just when I thought I was going to make his 30th birthday one to remember, he made it about us! I am truly grateful to have this man in my life, I am looking forward to out future. God has a plan! 🙂

Hello Everyone! Thanks for swinging by. I have a great e-session to share today featuring Latoya and Alan. They both met at the hip Royal Peacock night club and the rest is history! They decided to have a portion of the shoot there since its significant to their relationship. Their beautiful young daughter joined in on the fun and the family shots turned out great! We truly had a great time. Latoya has been a big supporter of my work and I happy she decided to use me. Congratulation on your engagement guys! Check out their proposal story below. Enjoy!

The Proposal:

Alan and I always talked about marriage. Being together for so long, and raising our daughter, we knew that we wanted to be together for the rest of our lives. On Alan’s birthday I decided to take him out to dinner. Since I LOVE surprising him he had no idea where we were going until the night of. I wanted to take him somewhere that we’ve never been before and I wanted it to be nice. So we got all dressed up and headed downtown. We pulled up to The SunDial Restaurant and he was ecstatic. The SunDial Restaurant is one of the most romantic places to dine in Atlanta. With spectacular views and a rotating lounge area, I knew this was the perfect place to celebrate his birthday. After a delicious meal and drinks and good conversation, Alan wanted to “take a picture” standing on top of the rotating platform. I told him that we were not allowed to stand there but he was adamant. He called our waitress over and gave her his phone and asked her to take a picture of us. As we stood up he started talking, I was busy looking at the camera hoping that the waitress would hurry up and take the picture. He continued talking.. He said “I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you”…… That caught my attention I looked at him only to realize that he made the motion to get down on one knee and ask for my hand in marriage. With tears in my eyes, I asked about 100 times “what are you doing?” I could not believe what was happening. I was in complete shock! My surprise for him actually turned out to be a proposal for me! The entire restaurant started clapping and telling us congratulations. After the tears and the tissue, the waitress gave Alan his cell phone back and that’s when I realize it was recording. She recorded the entire moment. I was able to go back and re-live the moment, because everything was a blur as it was happening, I was very thankful she did.

Reflecting on that night I often think to myself, how unselfish of a man to make his special night about me. We are looking forward to more breathtaking moments.
